DGFT Extends Deadline for One-Time Conversion of Advance Authorisation under SION E-52 to TRQ
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has extended the timeline for eligible holders of Advance Authorisation under SION E-52 to apply for one-time conversion to the Tariff Rate Quota (TRQ) Scheme.
The extension has been notified through DGFT Public Notice No. 29/2026-27 dated 3 September 2026.
What has been extended?
Under the earlier Public Notice No. 27/2026-2027 dated 20 August 2026, as amended by the Corrigendum dated 24 August 2026, a mechanism was provided for the one-time conversion of eligible Advance Authorisations issued under SION E-52 to TRQ for the import of raw sugar.
The DGFT has now provided an extended application window from 3 September 2026 to 7 September 2026, both days inclusive. Accordingly, 7 September 2026 is the last date for submitting applications for the conversion.
Who can apply?
The extended facility is available to eligible Advance Authorisation holders covered under SION E-52. Such holders may apply for the one-time conversion from the Advance Authorisation Scheme to the TRQ Scheme within the extended window.
Businesses that fall within the eligibility criteria should therefore review their Advance Authorisation and applicable requirements without delay, considering the short remaining window.
Important: Other conditions remain unchanged
The extension does not replace or modify the other conditions applicable to the conversion.
The DGFT has clarified that all other terms and conditions prescribed under Public Notice No. 27/2026-2027 dated 20 August 2026, as amended by the Corrigendum dated 24 August 2026, will continue to apply. The applicable provisions governing one-time conversion of Advance Authorisation under SION E-52 to TRQ will also continue to apply.
The DGFT has also retained the power to amend, modify, relax or withdraw provisions of the Public Notice, subject to the Foreign Trade Policy and applicable law.
